Carl is a member of our Business Structures & Transactions, Insolvency & Corporate Restructuring, and Banking & Finance practices.
Carl’s practice focuses on corporate/commercial law, banking and insolvency. He provides general counsel to a diverse spectrum of clients including banks, corporate entities, lenders, receivers and trustees.
He has appeared, principally in insolvency, receivership and restructuring matters, before all levels of courts in Nova Scotia, the Supreme Court of Canada, Supreme Courts of Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, and Superior Court of the Province of Quebec. He has acted on matters before the Supreme Court of New Brunswick and has participated in a hearing before the Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

A past recipient of the Metropolitan Halifax Chamber of Commerce Executive of the Year award, Carl has served as a member of Bar Council, Chair of the Business Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association's Nova Scotia branch, presented papers to conferences on corporate, insolvency and taxation, lectured on taxation in the Nova Scotia Bar Admissions Program, was President of both the Nova Scotia Drama League and Scouts Canada Nova Scotia Provincial Council, Vice President of the Halifax Chamber of Commerce and a member of Mount Saint Vincent University's Board of Governors. Carl was a director and Chair of the Fundraising Committee for the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia and the Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island.
