Representative Experience
Business Law: Garnet advises businesses and entrepreneurs on various matters including the set-up and implementation of business structures, share / asset purchase and sale transactions, corporate reorganizations, amalgamations, negotiation and preparation of contracts, shareholder and partnership agreements, offering memoranda, as well as various Aboriginal business, and technology business legal matters.
Garnet also represents clients in enforcing their legal and contractual rights and has represented clients in proceedings before the Federal Court of Canada, Nova Scotia Supreme Court, and the Small Claims Court of Nova Scotia. Garnet’s experience in this area extends to commercial litigation and Admiralty & Maritime Law.
Banking & Finance: Garnet provides legal services to clients in the Banking Industry which includes preparation of contracts and related documentation in secured commercial financing transactions, and registration of security. Garnet also has an active financial recovery & collections practise where he represents clients in the enforcement, negotiation and recovery of secured and unsecured loans, credit facilities and other debts.
On a Personal Note
Garnet is known for his endless supply of energy and optimism. He is a seasoned entrepreneur who retains a passion for helping entrepreneurs by offering advice and helping them to find practical and creative solutions for their business legal needs. In his spare time, Garnet likes to run, ski and golf. He also enjoys website design, blogging (Entrepreneurlaw.ca), studying Korean and spending time with his family.
He is the Chair Person and President of the Board of Directors for the Entrepreneurs with Disabilities Network (“EDN”). The EDN provides various resources and support to entrepreneurs with disabilities in order that they stay focused on achieving entrepreneurial success.
Garnet lives in Halifax with his wife, Hyoyeon, his two daughters, Eleyna and Elissa, and their English springer spaniel, Roxy.
